Idle Musings
Shortly after she met my future wife, my late grandmother said to me, “Get it right, this husband and wife business, because no matter who you’re with, the rest of your life doesn’t go any faster than it did before. It just rolls out one day at a time.” Blessing or burden, mutual prosperity or community property, create wonderful children or hatch damaged future serial killers, it takes the same amount of time. You can’t know the future, but be damned sure.
I think of these words often, though it has been more than 15 years, not because I didn’t get it right, but because they are wise.
