And Then, the Manhole Cover

…So I didn’t intend to skip today, but I had sort of a dental mishap in which half my face blew up and I had to run back, downing antibiotics all the way, so that my head didn’t go all ripe pumpkin. I had to cancel a scheduled TV appearance too, lest the production staff start chanting, “One of us! One of us!” I’ll be back with more on Tuesday AM-ish.

Lord, I’m Hideous

On a Train, On TV

Talking baseball today at 6:30 EST on the YES network, if you get the YES network, if you have a TV, or a clock.

I Suppose You’re All Wondering Why I’ve Called You Here…

The BP annual is holding me prisoner. Some new commentary later this afternoon. Thanks for your patience. In the meantime, some A.J. Burnett thoughts are up at the Pinstriped Bible.

Fat Man on TV

Yesterday’s hit on YES.

Send me your diet tips, readers!

So Now What Do I Do?

So as per reader suggestion, I created a Facebook fan page for Wholesome Reading, said page located here. If anyone has any suggestions as to what else I should do with it, feel free to let me know… As of now, it’s just sitting there, a monument to a fat man’s ego.

Strangers on a…. Oh, Never Mind

Spent all of yesterday on a train, or it felt like it, and spent the first half of today catching up. Back in business shortly. Until then, do no harm… and enjoy the market’s little bounce-back today.

Back in the Saddle

Had a busy night/morning writing 2500 words on Herb Score for Baseball Prospectus. I’m finishing up today’s Pinstriped Bible and will be back here with more ruminations on non-horsehide matters in short order.

Swished!

Ever have one of those days when a late-breaking trade for Nick Swisher held you to doing paltry updates to your political blog? New posts to come shortly.

…By the way, I’m really pleased with the way things have been developing here in the short time we’ve been in operation. Traffic has been very nice for a little start-up, and we’re starting to see some discussion threads that last more than one or two posts — and the quality of the discussion has been very high. I’ve let everything through but spam, and really haven’t had to think hard about it even once. I thank you for that and look forward to keeping on. In the short term I’ll finally be getting the nav bar working (the awesome Jay Jaffe just gave me the new buttons), adding the requested “share” button, and beginning what I think of as the “second gate,” a page focused on old movies, books, and music called “Wholesome Pop.” Stay tuned…

The Shropshire Slasher

Sorry about the slow posting day today — a surgeon took his snickersnee to my face this morning and I’ve sort of been sulking since then. More this evening, after I get over my repulsiveness and the accompanying physical discomfort.
